INCREDIBLE HULK Sequel?

By E. Christopher Clark

I really enjoyed the 2008 film adaptation of the Hulk story, The Incredible Hulk. In fact, I think the first thirty minutes of that film is on par with the best in superhero film we’ve seen this decade. That is why I am excited every time I hear a piece of news confirming the possibility of a sequel to that film or the possibility of characters from that film making an appearance in the supposedly forthcoming Avengers super-flick.

Ain’t It Cool News’s Hercules has news from a Los Angeles’ Television Critics Association event that indicates that Tim Roth, the man who played Incredible Hulk baddie Emil Blonsky, signed with Marvel for three films. These three films could apparently include both a sequel to The Incredible Hulk and the aforementioned and as-yet-untitled Avengers film.

What do you think? Did you guys and gals like The Incredible Hulk? Are you looking forward to seeing more of the characters from that film?

Music Videos from the Mind of Wareheim

By Shawn Lampron

Editor’s Note: This first video is decidedly Not Safe For Work [NSFW] and probably Not Safe For Mom [NSFM].

The recent articles Chris has been posting have reminded me that I need to share the exquisite pain/delight I experienced over the music videos of Eric Wareheim.  A co-creator of no less than two adultswim creations, Tom Goes to the Mayor and Tim and Eric Awesome Show.  These are the two videos that disturbed me the most.  Presumably, they’re made with tongue planted firmly in cheek.

R.I.P. John Hughes

By E. Christopher Clark

Rest in peace, John Hughes. Thank you for all the movies, but most of all for Weird Science, which has to be one of my favorite films of all time.

Fivers, what are you favorite John Hughes flicks?

24 Awesome Music Videos That Never Won An MTV Award

By E. Christopher Clark

Matt Stopera at Buzzfeed has responded to MTV’s nominations for Best Video That Should Have Won A Moonman with a list of his own. And I have to say that both lists are really crazy. Regardless of what you think of some of these songs, if you had MTV when they were on, they were inescapable, hugely popular clips.

“Smooth Criminal” never won an MTV Award? Neither did “Into the Great Wide Open” or “Freedom” or “Sabotage”? And there was no love for “Basketcase” or “Baby Got Back” or “No Rain” either?

But, of course, the greatest tragedy of all is that “Say You’ll Be There” by the Spice Girls was never given its props. It’s a fantastic pop song and an even greater video that, more perfectly than any other artifact the group left behind, really defines what the Spice Girls were all about as a cultural phenomenon. And I can’t believe that it never won a Moonman. I really can’t.

What?!? I’m totally serious. There isn’t an ounce of sarcasm in me right now as I type this. C’mon.... You don’t believe me?

Top 10 Must-Happen 90s Reunions

By E. Christopher Clark

Photograph depicting a mini-reunion of the FULL HOUSE cast

Topping Wonderwall’s list of “The 10 ‘90s Reunions We Want To See” is the gift to mankind that was Full House. Other honorees include Saved by the Bell, Baywatch, Clueless, In Living Color, and *NSYNC.

Of their #1 pick, Wonderwall writes:

The E! True Hollywood Story of Full House could be a movie in and of itself. Between the Olsen twins coming of age in the tabloids, Bob Saget’s move to creepster comedy, John Stamos’ inability to age, and Dave Coulier being the d-bag boyfriend from “You Oughta Know,” this cast has remained nothing less than fascinating since they moved out of the Tanner household.

Have they made an episode of The E! True Hollywood Story on Full House yet? Can I get that on DVD or Hulu?

Weird Al Sings about Charles Nelson Reilly on JibJab

By E. Christopher Clark

I don’t know if you’re going to believe me or not, but I had no idea who Charles Nelson Reilly was until this Weird Al video prompted me to look the old fellow up on Wikipedia. And, truth be told, I’m still not sure why he warrants a whole “Weird Al” Yankovic song all to himself, but what do I know?

Anyway, I’m just uber-psyched to see Al using a platform like JibJab for his latest video. It seems like a natural fit. And, were I a JibJab member, I’d probably put myself in the video like they say I can. Have you ever done that with one of JibJab’s videos? Are you a fan of theirs from way back, like I am?

Blurbomat’s Case for an Apple Tablet

By E. Christopher Clark

one artist's mock-up of the rumored Apple Tablet computer

I am a Jon and Heather Armstrong fanboy, so it should come as no surprise to you that I think Jon’s “The Case for an Apple Tablet” is one of the best articles I’ve yet read on why an Apple tablet makes sense.

Since Marlo [their second child] came into our lives and I’ve spent countless hours in a position that is not laptop or desktop computing friendly, I’ve spent a lot of time on my iPhone using it as my main computer. During supervised naps (we’re sticklers about SIDS) I’ve been reading Infinite Jest on my Kindle and on the Kindle app for iPhone.

It should also come as no surprise to those of you who have known me for any length of time that I agree with Jon’s assessment that Heather’s tale of the birth of Marlo (found in three parts here, here, and here) is “one of the best things she’s ever written”. I happen to think Heather Armstrong is one of the best storytellers I’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing or reading a story by.

There is just an insane amount of talent living under that one roof—I mean, have you seen what their dog Chuck can do?—and I can’t even imagine what their children are going to be like when they grow up. It’s insane, I tell you: insane.

Part Two of Mysteries of the Universe: The Dharma Initiative

By E. Christopher Clark

Mysteries of the Universe continues with part two of its exploration into the secret society known as the Dharma Initiative. Part one, which was first mentioned here, can be found here, and we thank the boys and girls at Lostpedia for continuing to link these bad boys up.

Can I just say that I am uber-excited for Lost right now? How about that I’m really pleased with the slow burn of season six build-up that we’re getting? Can I say that, too?
