Green Day vs. Coldplay

This one is an easy call for me, as I am a big believer in longevity, and I don’t think we’ll remember who the hell Coldplay was in 20 years. But, hey, it ain’t up to me. Vote now, my friends, and help us decide if punk rock can beat wimp rock in this battle for the ages.

I’m really surprised at how one-sided this is, so far (10-0 as of this typing). Anyone want to chime in with why they think it’s so one-sided?

um because Coldplay is a watered down version of Radiohead. Even back in the late 90s I held this particular opinion. Coldplay is content with producing these easy to swallow, though catchy, anthems of epic grandeur. Basically territory that Radiohead would not venture into. Whether this was calculated or blatant pandering I can’t say for sure. I can’t knock them foe their success but it is what it is. Sonic baby food!

I’m glad to hear someone else say that. That’s what I’ve always thought of them (though I do like their music… sometimes watered-down Radiohead is the only Radiohead I can handle).
