Behind the Comics #004 - Astonishing X-Men
by E. Christopher Clark | Thursday, February 19, 2009
The comic book industry, like any industry, needs to sell its product. And, as of late, one of the primary ways that they’ve been trying to do that is by bringing in big-name writers from other industries. Joss Whedon, the creator behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, is one of the most famous examples of this. He was brought in by Marvel in 2004 to write their Astonishing X-Men title, and this episode of Behind the Comics is all about why I think that series is a perfect entry-point for anybody looking to read an X-Men title.
