Cookie Crisp and Ernie Hudson: A Twitter Conversation
I have just participated in what may very well be the geekiest and most fun Twitter conversation ever had by a half-dozen people in New Hampshire on a Monday afternoon in July. It began, as far as I can tell, with this tweet from @alignment:
You know what I just ate? COOKIE CRISP CEREAL. The box says it’s a good source of vitamins, but I don’t think I believe this..
And this is what happened next:
larryclow: @alignment Now I want Cookie Crisp more than anything. Haven’t had that in years.
spyboy: @alignment yes, the BOX is a good source of vitamins, the cereal, not so much…
johnherman: @spyboy @larryclow @alignment Everyone step away from the box slowly. Cookie Crisp is neither cereal nor is it cookie.
spyboy: @johnherman @larryclow @alignment I’ve never had Cookie Crisp. Or Mountain Dew, yah, I’m weerdz
johnherman: @spyboy Yes, but you are a friendly android. Instead of blood, you have oil and electricity in your veins.
spyboy: @johnherman I bleed ones and zeroes
ecc1977: Oh curses! I had totally forgotten about the evil of Cookie Crisp. Craving commences in 5, 4, 3… @spyboy @larryclow @alignment @johnherman
larryclow: @spyboy @alignment @johnherman CC has a peculiar fake-food flavor that’s hard to resist. So does Mountain Dew. Both are poison, tho.
alignment: @spyboy @larryclow I don’t like Mountain Dew. But my tastes can’t be trusted, since I DO like Moxie.
leahcreates: I am eating fresh cherries. Surely these are better than Cookie Crisp? @alignment @johnherman @larryclow @ecc1977
johnherman: @ecc1977 @larryclow @spyboy @alignment Seriously, eating Cookie Crisp is like shutting down the containment field in Ghostbusters. Bad.
spyboy: @alignment mmmm Moxie, not many people enjoy it.
ecc1977: Laughing out loud at this: RT @johnherman Seriously, eating Cookie Crisp is like shutting down the containment field in Ghostbusters. Bad.
ecc1977: My wife’s great-grandfather swore by it, but I’ve never met anyone else. RT @spyboy: @alignment mmmm Moxie, not many people enjoy it.
larryclow: @johnherman @ecc1977 @spyboy @alignment I’d rate Boo Berry as slightly more harmful than Cookie Crisp
larryclow: @johnherman @ecc1977 @spyboy @alignment To extend the Ghostbusters analogy Cookie Crisp:Boo Berry :: Disabled Containment Unit:Gozer
johnherman: @larryclow @ecc1977 @spyboy @alignment Oh, I agree. Boo Berry is Ghostbusters 2 bad.
ecc1977: Absolutely RT @leahcreates I am eating fresh cherries. Surely these are better than Cookie Crisp? @alignment @johnherman @larryclow @ecc1977
larryclow: @leahcreates FWIW, I have neither Cookie Crisp or cherries. Just water and a granola bar.
ecc1977: Boo Berry = bad. What about Count Chocula? @johnherman: @larryclow @spyboy @alignment #cookiecrisp
johnherman: @larryclow By that philosophy, Count Chocula is the Vinz Clortho of breakfast cereals.
spyboy: @johnherman I think Fruity Pebbles is to your Cookie Crisp what Men in Black is to Ghostbusters
larryclow: @johnherman I sense a breakfast cereal/Tobin’s Spirit Guide mashup coming on.
spyboy: @larryclow @larryclow Is “he slimed me” equivalent to soggy cereal?
johnherman: @larryclow @ecc1977 @spyboy @leahcreates So in conclusion, @alignment is Ernie Hudson.
spyboy: @johnherman @ecc1977 @leahcreates @alignment @larryclow You mean like this? http://bit.ly/2G3Uo
johnherman: @spyboy Thanks. This is pretty excellent. http://bit.ly/2G3Uo
ecc1977: Fantastic Ghostbusters trailer, re-edited make Ernie Hudson the star! RT @spyboy: you mean like this? http://bit.ly/2G3Uo
leahcreates: I LOVE HOW THIS TURNED OUT. RT @johnherman @larryclow @ecc1977 @spyboy @leahcreates So in conclusion, @alignment is Ernie Hudson.
alignment: @leahcreates @larryclow @spyboy @johnherman @ecc1977 This was one of the most entertaining twitter conversations ever. Thank you.
Earlier today, I read an article about our spastic digital culture that, for the most part, was right-on. But conversations like the one I had this afternoon really remind me why I love Twitter. When you’re alone at your desk and need to blow off some steam for a few minutes, this tool is perfect for the job.

That was a random Twitter conversation for the afternoon, see what happens when we’re deprived of sun for so many weeks :)
E. Christopher Clark says:
They should deprive us of the sun more often.
Or, uhm… maybe not. Maybe we should just pick a random thing to gab about each day. That was a lot of fun.
