Geek Force Utterz #011 - Nine Inch Nails Survey
by E. Christopher Clark | Tuesday, September 23, 2008
Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails have spent the last year or so turning the record industry upside down. They’ve released their last two records to the Internet first, shipping to brick & mortar stores only once they’d reached the second phase of their marketing attacks. One of the albums they released (The Slip) was given away to fans for low, low price of zero dollars. And they have consistently been on the cutting edge of ticket sales reform, trying to make sure to scalping is kept to a minimum and that fans of all income levels are able to get into shows.
Over the weekend, Reznor and company launched the next phase of their plans for world domination. They released a survey.
Here’s Trent on the subject:
I’d like to thank everyone for a very successful year so far in the world of Nine Inch Nails. I’m enjoying my couple of weeks off between legs of our Lights In The Sky tour and got to thinking… “wouldn’t it be fun to send out a survey to everyone that’s shown interest in NIN?” Well, that’s not exactly how it went, but regardless - here it is. As we’ve moved from the familiar world of record labels and BS into the unknown world of doing everything yourself, we’ve realized it would benefit us and our ability to interact with you if we knew more about what you want, what you like, what you look like naked, etc. I know it’s a pain in the ass but we’d truly appreciate it if you’d take a minute and help us out.
At the end of the rainbow, once an interested person completes the survey, is an exclusive video recorded live on the Lights In The Sky tour. And it’s a pretty cool video. So, if you’re at all interested in Nine Inch Nails, and if you haven’t yet taken the survey, head on over and git ‘er done.
Oh, and while you’re filling out the survey, why not listen to today’s episode of Geek Force Utterz? It’s embedded above, or, if you can’t see/hear it up there, it can be accessed directly at Utterli.
