Chris, I finally saw this on DVD last night. It was extremely funny in places, tender in others… and completely and overwhelmingly vulgar. That’s my biggest complaint with Kevin Smith films. They drop the F-bomb so often, I usually end up focusing on that and not on the plot, dialogue, characters, etc. If he could tone the language down a touch, I would like his movies a lot more. I’m no prude when it comes to language, but it’s almost like he’s just trying to see how many times he can get certain characters to say it over the course of a film.
Meanwhile, Jason Mewes got hot!

That is definitely a weakness of Kevin’s films, and one of the reasons I only revisit them infrequently. I love the man’s work, and the stories he tells, but he definitely needs to curb the potty-mouth here and there.
It’s something I struggle with, too (perhaps because I was so enamored with Kevin early in my development as a writer).
And yeah, Mewes definitely cleaned up his act. It probably helps that he’s not stoned out of his mind all the time now.
