Kingpin the Villain in SPIDER-MAN 4?

Marvel Comics's Kinpin, both comic book and movie versions

Ain’t It Cool News reports that Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of the Marvel Universe, may be the villain in Spider-Man 4. AICN’s Hercules and I are in agreement that bringing back Michael Clarke Duncan, who played the role in Daredevil, would be a nifty bit of universe-building. But, what say you Fivers? Did you loathe DD, as I know some did? Or were you fond of it, as I was? What do you think is the likelihood of there being trouble between Sony (producers of the Spidey films) and Fox (producers of Daredevil) about the use of Kingpin, assuming he is the choice for big bad in Spider-Man 4? And what do you think about the Kingpin as a villain, in general?

I dig the idea of the Kingpin as the villain.  As for MCD, seems like a good idea to me, although connecting a weakened Spider-Man franchise to the lame Daredevil might not be the best idea.

Daredevil was good until they tried to turn the last 30 mins. into Born Again.  That storyline deserves a film in itself.  It would have made great sequel.  Instead, it ruined the movie.

I like MCD as an actor but as the Kingpin he was a bad choice. Still he is the crime boss supreme of the Marvel universe and is always pulling strings and being EEEVil. I’d like to see Kraven myself. I am a big DD fan and Born Again was one of the greatest mini-series and works of Frank Miller ever. THAT would be a reason to continue the franchise. Also seeing Ben Affleck getting beat on like a rented mule is always a plus.

I like MCD and have a really hard time buying him as a villain. He seems like such a nice guy despite his overwhelming size. I’d get a different actor.

As for Daredevil, that movie was pretty damn bad. That movie had a lot of problems. The part that always annoyed me was how inaccurately they portrayed his career and how it became little more than a footnote. For some reason they have him prosecuting a rapist at the beginning even though he’s a private practice defense attorney? Also, that’s about all we get. In the best runs of DD, being a lawyer is as important an identity to Murdock as being DD.

Interesting to hear the different takes on Daredevil and on MCD.

If they were to re-cast Kingpin, is there anyone in particular you could see in the role?

And, if they were to re-start DD and you were the writer, director, and casting agent, what decisions would you make?
