I’ve spoken of my love for Tetris briefly in the past. It’s an amazing game, with an amazing story behind it. And this week it turned twenty-five years old. The Guardian has a great retrospective. Here’s a choice quote from Henk Rogers, one of the people instrumental in bringing the game to Nintendo’s Gameboy, which is where so many people my age first discovered it:

My first impression was that this game was too simple, that there was nothing to it. Then I came back and played it again. And again. Soon I realised there was something going on – no game had grabbed me at a show just like that.

@Jeremy - That music! I actually don’t hear it anymore, because I’ve played so many versions without it. But every time someone mentions it, it comes right back to me.

@Mary Ann - There are so many things that make us feel old, damn it! We need something that makes us feel young. Hmm…
