The Emmy Award Winning I MET THE WALRUS
by E. Christopher Clark | Tuesday, September 1, 2009
Jerry Levitan was 14 years old in 1969, the year that he snuck into John Lennon’s Toronto hotel room and scored a 40-minute interview. Years and years later, he’s created an Emmy Award Winning short film with audio from that interview at its core.
In their write-up on the news, Mashable asks, “Do you think I Met the Walrus succeeds, as Jerry Levitan hoped, ‘something that I thought John would love’?” I’m not sure whether he would loved it or not, as I’m not much of a Lennon scholar myself, but I certainly love it. The animation here is crazy and wacky and all kinds of out-there, but ends up being beautiful and inspiring at the same time.
What about you, Fivers? What do you think of I Met the Walrus?
