Watchmen MMO?!? Uhm, MM-NO!!!

Maybe this is one of the reasons comics writer Alan Moore dislikes film adaptations of his work. Because, guess what always happens when a big studio gets a hold of a comic book property? Merchandising!!! It’s never just a movie. There are lunchboxes, and coloring books, and trading cards, and now, almost always, video game tie-ins. Mike Schramm at TUAW says that he is reserving judgment on the massively multiplayer game that Warner Brothers is putting out for the iPhone and iPod Touch, but me, I’m not. I’m saying “Hell no!” We do not need a Watchmen MMO, folks. We just don’t. The film adaptation is one thing. This… this is something else entirely.
