detail of Tim O'Brien's disturbing realistic painting of Charlie Brown

If you haven’t seen Tim O’Brien’s “Chuck Brown” painting, you are definitely missing out. It is disturbing on so many levels that I can’t even begin to count them.

What’s most disturbing for me, as someone whose college nicknames were Eeyore and Charlie Brown, is that a real-life Charlie Brown would really look this demented. Did I ever look this much like a serial killer in training? Do I now? Man, all I’m sure of after seeing this is that I need to smile more.
