Geek Force Utterz 167: Continuity
In which ECC geeks out about bringing old stories into continuity with new stories, and about having a less busy week on the horizon.
Geek Force Utterz #132 - Sunday Launch
I stayed up late last night to relaunch echristopherclark.com, and today’s episode of Geek Force Utterz is all about how that went, and what I still have left to do. Listen in via the embed above, or by visiting Utterli.com.
Geek Force Utterz #114 - I’m Gonna Make a Movie
This morning, after cutting Chapter 4 of my novel down from 49 pages to 36, I got to thinking about what was next. And, aside from continuing to work on the novel, I decided the one of the things that should come next is a film. Or, rather, a webisodic mini-series that I am calling a film just so that everyone I know who doesn’t know what a Webisodic is will understand what I’m talking about. To learn more about the project I plan to shoot this summer, listen in to today’s episode of Geek Force Utterz via the embed above or by visiting Utterli.com.
Geek Force Utterz #107 - Ducking
In today’s episode of Geek Force Utterz, I’m all over the place. Listen in as I talk about the delayed launch of 01824’s next chapter, about GF5’s coverage of Jimmy Fallon, and about the problems I had with ducking in Garage Band last night. The episode is available, as always, via the embed above, or by visiting Utterli.com.
Geek Force Utterz #074 - Creative Commons Photos
One of the great, unexpected joys of working on 01824 has been selecting the photos that run with each installment. I had always envisioned that there would be a visual component to the series, but I had never imagined that it would be so much fun to find and feature the artwork of others. But thanks to Flickr’s easy-to-use Creative Commons search engine, the process has been a breeze.
Today’s episode of Geek Force Utterz has more on this subject, including my shout-outs to Chris Brogan and Steve Garfield, both of whom were huge inspirations. You can listen in via the embed above, or by visiting Utterli.com.
Geek Force Utterz #073 - Writing Day
I’ve got the day off from my main gig, so today is a writing day for me. And in today’s episode of Geek Force Utterz I talk a little about the crutches I rely on as a writer. Listen in via the embed above or by visiting Utterli.com.
Geek Force Utterz #069 - Launching 01824
Aside from releasing Those Little Bastads on my own back in 2002, the publishing ambitions of my adult life have been fairly traditional. I imagined for myself an agent, a publishing deal, and my book screaming for attention on a shelf dominated by Mary Higgins Clark. No matter how much of an entrepreneur I might have been in my adolescence—the release and distribution of the five-issue comic book series Blood Red being the pinnacle of that early career—I was determined to say that I had grown up, that I had moved beyond the vanity that the traditional publishing industry seemed to equate with all self-publishing endeavors.
In today’s episode of Geek Force Utterz, I talk for a few minutes on what changed my mind, on what made me decide to release 01824 through my own Website, and on how the debut of the series made me feel on premiere night.

Geek Force Utterz #068 - Why 01824?
Last week began with the announcement that Harry Potter and my new Webisodic series 01824 would be taking the places of View Askew and Apple in my Geek Force Five. I’m starting off this week by launching a column on Potter (to arrive this afternoon) and by debuting the first chapter of 01824 (to premiere this evening).
Today’s episode of Geek Force Utterz finds me talking about why I chose to launch a Webisodic series and why I think hometowns are important to us. You can listen in via the embed above, or by visiting Utterli.com.
Geek Force Utterz #067 - NH Media Makers (January)
Declaring war on winter, I attended the January meeting of New Hampshire Media Makers in Newmarket this morning despite the fact that it was still snowing like a bastard outside when I left. And, as always, I was glad that I made the trek. Today’s episode of Geek Force Utterz is about how everything seems to be coming together for me lately, and about how Media Makers meetings (and other such meet-ups) can be great for creative types seeking inspiration and direction. Geek Force Utterz #063 - You’ve Got to Choose
Yesterday, I announced that Apple and View Askew would be leaving my Geek Force Five and that they would be replaced by Harry Potter and 01824 (my new text-based Webisodic). Reaction has been mixed, of course. Why give up View Askew, a production house that is still churning out films, for a franchise (Potter) that will only be newsworthy for a brief while longer, now that there are no new books coming out and only three more films? Why stop talking about Apple, a proven traffic-driving topic, to tell stories about a boring suburban town? And, if you’re going to make a change, why not go more generic with the topics and allow for greater flexibility and eliminate the need for big changes like this altogether?
Today’s episode of Geek Force Utterz aims to answer those questions, or to at least begin to. As always, you can listen in via the embed above or by visiting Utterli.com.
