Last Week on Lost: Cabin Fever

Teasing tonight’s episode for Entertainment Weekly’s Doc Jensen, Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof says, “Press conferences, funerals, and surprise parties.... Oh my!”

All of the teases that I’ve seen for this episode have been great, and I am huge fan of finales anyway, so this one will probably end up on my list of top ten favorites pretty darned quick.

In the meantime, here (below the fold) are some of my thoughts on last week’s episode, “Cabin Fever,” which was much cooler than I expected it to be, given the general suckiness of John Locke as a character this season.

Last Week on Lost: The Shape of Things to Come

Thursday, May 01, 2008

Teasing tonight’s episode for Entertainment Weekly’s Doc Jensen, Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof says, “Remember after the finale last season when everyone was asking us why Jack was blathering on about his father in what turned out to be our first flash-forward? It was just the booze and pills talking, right? And hey...why did he start taking pills in the first place?”

All interesting questions, Damon. I hope that you guys manage to answer at least one of them tonight, because it’s been a terrible day and I really need some Lost awesomeness to pick me up right now.

Until then, let me attempt to reconstruct the piece I wrote about “The Shape of Things to Come” on this morning’s bus ride, which was before my laptop’s hard drive decided to shit the bed.

LOST: The Shape of Things to Come

Friday, April 11, 2008

Entertainment Weekly’s Jeff Jensen paid a visit to the set of Lost recently, and he’s back with all kinds of teasery goodness. DarkUFO has a good summary of the teasers up in his spoilers section. And, as if that weren’t enough, ABC released another sneak peek at the first post-break episode, “The Shape of Things to Come,” which I’ve included above.

I’ll save my thoughts on the teasers for below the fold because, while I consider them teasers and not spoilers, not every reader will necessarily agree with me. If you want to stay pure, stay out. If not, continue on.

Don’t Trust the Captain: Catching Up on LOST Scoops

I can’t figure out if the Lost rumor mill is dying down or speeding up lately. The show is about to go on a month-long hiatus (Thursday’s episode is the last until the end of April), but production is ramping up now for the first time since the end of the writer’s strike. It’s an interesting time for someone like me, someone who wants to cover Lost rumors and teasers without outright spoiling anything for anyone. Many of the stories that are coming out now walk the line between teaser and spoiler, and I’m not sure which, if any, I want to cover here.

Anyway, because I’ve been away from the site since Friday, consider this a catch-up post. You may or may not have seen all of these stories already.

First, YouTube has a short Internet featurette with cast reactions to the return of Harold Perrineau (Michael Dawson).

Second, DarkUFO has scans of a Lost-related article in the latest TV Guide. The article reveals, in part, that four dead characters reappear in this week’s episode, “Meet Kevin Johnson”. It also immediately gives away who Kevin Johnson is. So, if you haven’t watched last week’s episode yet, stay away to stay pure.

Last, casting calls have gone out for episodes ten and eleven of season four. The casting call for episode #411 includes calls for actors to play the same male character at different ages, as well as a teenage redheaded girl who is passionately in love. E! Online’s Kristin Dos Santos thinks it could be a Charlotte flashback. TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello is wondering if this is a Ben-centric episode, featuring the return of Annie, or maybe even if it’s a Locke-centric episode delving into the world of Locke’s childhood. Like Ausiello, I would be extremely disappointed if it were the latter. I feel like we’re done with Locke’s backstory, and I’m really growing tired of him as a character. Personally, I think it’s time someone shot Locke in some part of his body where he isn’t missing a vital organ. Preferably his head. Me, I’d rather get some more info on Charlotte, something which might help me figure out why she’s so damn violent.
