Welcome to GF5

Welcome to GeekForceFive.com.

“What’s a Geek Force Five?” you ask. Well, a Geek Force Five is a covert action team comprised of the five most notable manifestations of awesomeness in a geek’s universe. Or, well, maybe it’s a hallucination of such a team (that’s what my shrink says). Whatever the case, http://www.geekforcefive.com is where we discuss these five manifestations of awesomeness.

For the past week, while I’ve slowly revealed my own personal Geek Force Five, I’ve been asking people who or what they geek out about the most. And it’s been interesting to watch the conversation develop. I learned that there are more Lost fans lurking about than I thought there would be (lucky for me, considering one member of my Geek Force Five is Hugo “Hurley” Reyes). I’ve learned that the films of John Hughes remain close to the hearts of my readers, despite missteps like Home Alone 4, Beethoven’s 5th, and Maid in Manhattan. Most surprisingly, I’ve learned that there are people out there who will actually admit to geeking out over Beverly Hills 90210, even though it is no longer 1990 and even though Luke Perry is now likely to be found puttering about Redondo Beach with a colostomy bag tucked into his backpack (right next to his withered old hairpiece).

I kid, Bethany. I kid.

Anyway, now I am ready to get going and to start blogging about the five things that I’ve picked out: Nine Inch Nails, View Askew, Lost, Apple, and Marvel Comics. Although I’ve been blogging for nine years, this is only my second serious attempt at starting over and starting fresh. Wish me luck.
