First Review of Zack and Miri Make a Porno
Ain’t It Cool News has one of the first reviews I’ve seen of Zack and Miri Make a Porno, the next film by Kevin Smith. There’s always a part of me that wonders if AICN reviewers are full of shit, but Kev wrote on his blog that there would be a screening this week in the midwest, and I’m going to go ahead and believe that “Snake Oiler” was one of the attendees.
The review praises the comedic bits of the film, but says that the romantic storyline just doesn’t deliver. That’s disappointing news, but, even if it is true (and these things are all in the eye of the beholder anyway), Snake Oiler is right when he/she says, “It’s not too late, though - he’s got plenty of months left.” The flick isn’t due out until Halloween, and I’m sure that Kevin will pull the thing together in time for the general release.
New Movies Available on iTunes Same Day as DVDs
Now, this is more like it, Apple.
According to a press-release issued by the technology company earlier today, new movie releases from all of the major film studios will be available for purchase on the iTunes store on the same day that they are released on DVD. That’s not “for rental,” which was the major drawback of the new iTunes initiatives announced earlier this year at Macworld, but for purchase.
A smattering of films had been seeing releases like this over the past couple of weeks (including Juno, which I’ve been aching to see), so I suppose this announcement shouldn’t come as a total surprise. But, surprise or not, it come as most pleasant news on the day on which my iPod decided to play dead and stop syncing with my iMac and on which my laptop’s hard drive, based on the noise coming out of it right now, decided it wanted to audition for lead singer in a death metal band.
Zack and Miri Trailer To Debut April 28?
After providing some bad news for View Askew fanatics on the West Coast recently (there will be no screening for VA message board members, apparently), Kevin Smith announced that the first Internet trailer for Zack and Miri Make a Porno will probably arrive on April 28. I’d just like to take a second to thank Kevin in advance for the awesome anniversary present. Stephanie and I will have been married seven years on that date, and I’m sure she’ll be glad to know that I’ll be spending the entire evening glued to the seat in front of my iMac, waiting for the awesomeness to begin.
Fett’s Vette Music Video (NSFW)
A music video has surfaced for MC Chris’s “Fette’s Vette,” and Geekologie calls it “okay”. I think it’s a little bit better than “okay,” but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it great. It features clips from Star Wars and a couple of other sci-fi films that MC Chris mentions in the very funny but very not-safe-for-work song.
IRON MAN Flies in a New Clip on Apple.Com
Apple.com’s Movie Trailers section has a new clip from Iron Man, the forthcoming film adaptation of the Marvel comic book of the same name. It stars Robert Downey, Jr., in case you’ve been living in a cave, and every time I see something else promoting this movie I get a little bit more nuts about it. And yet, given my schedule and given the fact that I’m wicked po’, I will probably miss this when it comes out in theaters. We’ll see, I guess.
