Last Time on Lost: Meet Kevin Johnson

Teasing tonight’s episode for Entertainment Weekly’s Doc Jensen, Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof says… oh, waitaminute, one of our Geek Force interns just came in to deliver some terrible, terrible news. He tells me, not only is this not a Thursday (the night Lost airs here in the U.S.), but that there will be no new episodes of Lost until April 24, and therefore no weekly teases from Damon Lindelof. Oh, man! What the hell am I going to do with myself?

Rewatch the episodes that have already aired, apparently. Here, below the fold, are some of my thoughts on the last episode of Lost that aired here in the United States, “Meet Kevin Johnson.” These should have been up last week, but I stuffed so many envelopes last week that it sapped my will to blog.

Last Week on Lost: Ji Yeon

Teasing tonight’s episode for Entertainment Weekly’s Doc Jensen, Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof says, “Yes, you’ll find out a lot about [Kevin Johnson]. But you’ll ALSO learn why bearded Jack was unable to jump. AND where the Others are holed up. AND, according to those silly promos, apparently someone dies, too.”

As it did last week, Lindelof’s weekly tease has gotten me ten times more amped up for tonight’s episode than I already was. I’m not a huge fan of episodes centered around the former castaway who is now going by the name Kevin Johnson. Knowing that we’ll learn a little bit about Jack and the missing Others tonight, in this last episode before a month-long break, is awesome.

So, I can’t wait for tonight, and I’m sure that you can’t either. In the meantime, here (below the fold) are some of my thoughts on last week’s episode, “Ji Yeon,” which I re-watched last night on the bus ride home while simultaneously working on my novel (yay for multitasking).

Don’t Trust the Captain: Catching Up on LOST Scoops

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

I can’t figure out if the Lost rumor mill is dying down or speeding up lately. The show is about to go on a month-long hiatus (Thursday’s episode is the last until the end of April), but production is ramping up now for the first time since the end of the writer’s strike. It’s an interesting time for someone like me, someone who wants to cover Lost rumors and teasers without outright spoiling anything for anyone. Many of the stories that are coming out now walk the line between teaser and spoiler, and I’m not sure which, if any, I want to cover here.

Anyway, because I’ve been away from the site since Friday, consider this a catch-up post. You may or may not have seen all of these stories already.

First, YouTube has a short Internet featurette with cast reactions to the return of Harold Perrineau (Michael Dawson).

Second, DarkUFO has scans of a Lost-related article in the latest TV Guide. The article reveals, in part, that four dead characters reappear in this week’s episode, “Meet Kevin Johnson”. It also immediately gives away who Kevin Johnson is. So, if you haven’t watched last week’s episode yet, stay away to stay pure.

Last, casting calls have gone out for episodes ten and eleven of season four. The casting call for episode #411 includes calls for actors to play the same male character at different ages, as well as a teenage redheaded girl who is passionately in love. E! Online’s Kristin Dos Santos thinks it could be a Charlotte flashback. TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello is wondering if this is a Ben-centric episode, featuring the return of Annie, or maybe even if it’s a Locke-centric episode delving into the world of Locke’s childhood. Like Ausiello, I would be extremely disappointed if it were the latter. I feel like we’re done with Locke’s backstory, and I’m really growing tired of him as a character. Personally, I think it’s time someone shot Locke in some part of his body where he isn’t missing a vital organ. Preferably his head. Me, I’d rather get some more info on Charlotte, something which might help me figure out why she’s so damn violent.
